Yeman
Like many others out there, I get many spam calls and texts, so when I got another text from a number from America, I was about to delete it, but fortunately I took a few minutes to read it.
Turns out it was someone who had read about my recent meeting with Derek Sivers on Derek's blog. It was from that text that I got to know Yeman, a musician from America.
Because I had some time constraints, he was kind enough to come and meet me at a cafe near my workplace during my lunch hour.
It was great to exchange views and information. I always feel I don't have enough information or perspective to share, but I do what I can. Not to mention sharing information always involves talking about myself, which makes me feel guilty. I'd much rather listen to someone talk.
I got to learn a few things about America, where I've not been since I was a kid. I'm grateful for the information exchange.
It was quite funny also because my manager from work was at the next table and probably got some weird vibe. I tell myself he was probably wondering if I was interviewing for other jobs, since Google's Malaysian office is where we're at too. I think he was pretty confused that I was meeting random people off the Internet too.
