OpenClaw
OpenClaw has taken the world by storm and has surpassed Linux as the fastest growing (or starred) project in GitHub history.
What is OpenClaw
In a nutshell, it's a program to allow you to run AI like an autonomous agent on a computer. Something like the Jarvis assistant in Iron Man.
Suprisingly, I noticed that there have been two different mainstream directions to this. On one hand, there is the standard mixture of tech-forward folks researching and adopting it, along with many folks continuing with their lives as usual. On the other hand over in China, they seem to have gone all in. Without going into too much detail, here are some of the things that were already waiting for a breakthrough like OpenClaw, and other initiatives that sprouted because of it
- The Shenzhen government supporting AI solo ventures via the one-person-company (OPC) initiative
- Mass OpenClaw public installations
- The major tech players like Tencent (Wechat), Alibaba, Baidu, and others immediately reacting and deploying their own implementation of OpenClaw.
We’ve been quite fortunate to be decently positioned for this, as our RubyCoded Shenzhen office has been affiliated with iMakerbase for a few years now, and we’re regularly involved in the AI and OPC scene in Shenzhen.
Recently we’ve been sharing some of our views on the AI scene on CCTV, and other local Shenzhen papers.
What next?
Start looking into this. With such a significant paradigm shift in the market, increased skills in this sector will compound. If you’d like to understand more, feel free to contact me in Malaysia, or Jenxi in Shenzhen. We’re usually available for coffee.
Alternatives
Current alternatives include Hermes Agent, which itself is one of https://x.com/chrysb/status/2042426202825375826the fastest growing open-source projects too. However, it's still in early stages, and in terms of mainstream adoption, my recommendation would be to get up to speed with OpenClaw first.

I recently wrote some notes related to AI which I feel are related to this too.
